Dr. Robert “Bob” Tupa, D.O.
Dr. Bob Tupa has spent more than 40 years practicing family medicine and teaching the next generation of physicians — but ask anyone who knows him, and they’ll tell you he’s just as passionate about sharing stories, mentoring students, and making people feel at ease. A graduate of John Carroll University and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, he went on to lead family medicine departments, direct residency programs, and even earn the title of Family Practitioner of the Year in Ohio.
Since 2004, Dr. Tupa has been an integral part of Bonyo’s Kenya Mission. As our Medical Director, he has guided countless trips, cared for patients in village clinics, and taught medical and pharmacy students the ins and outs of international medicine. His love for the work is infectious — he’s known for encouraging students, pitching in wherever needed, and reminding us all why service matters.
When he’s not traveling to Kenya or working with our board, Dr. Tupa channels his creativity into making gallery-quality kaleidoscopes and woodturning projects. Whether in the clinic or the workshop, he brings curiosity, craftsmanship, and heart to everything he does.
