Sharon Leonard is a licensed professional clinical counselor, certified wellness counselor, and the woman behind the scenes running Dr. Bonyo Bonyo’s busy private practice in Akron, Ohio. With a strong background in mental health and a serious talent for innovation, Sharon blends compassion with strategy in everything she does.
Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, Sharon experienced firsthand the gaps in access to quality healthcare and emotional support. That perspective sparked a lifelong mission: to help build systems that serve people better, especially in communities that are too often overlooked.
When she met Dr. Bonyo, their shared passion for service turned into something bigger than both of them. Together, they co-founded Bonyo’s Kenya Mission and have spent years growing it into a movement focused on empowerment, access, and sustainable change—both in Kenya and here in the U.S.
As a founding board member, Sharon is a fearless leader and behind-the-scenes engine of the mission’s success. Whether managing a medical practice, shaping big-picture strategy, or showing up for the community, she brings bold heart, deep care, and an unshakable commitment to every space she steps into.
