Your gift will support Mama Pilista Bonyo Memorial Health Centre's operation and help to provide safe, quality healthcare for those living near Wan'gaya Village.

Join us on a trip to Kenya!

Support the clinic in person, meet incredible people, and see the amazing sites (e.g. hippos in Lake Victoria). As a bonus, you'll also go on safari! Mission trips occur at least twice a year and are a necessary function of Bonyo’s Kenya Mission. Volunteers travel to western Kenya to work in the Mama Pilista Bonyo Memorial Health Centre and provide medical services to those living in and near Wan'gaya village.

Over the years, Bonyo’s Kenya Mission has provided medial treatment to tens of thousands of patients in this underserved area where 70% of the population lacks access to health care. This includes prenatal through postnatal care and through well-child care, dental care, eye care and eye glasses, would treatment, laboratory work, counseling, pharmaceutical care, inpatient and outpatient care, critical care transport to larger hospitals, community outreach, and more.

As you would expect, the village has a pressing need for medical professionals. Physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, emergency personnel, and volunteers will find great reward in providing patient care at the clinic.

There is much work to be done, and both non-medical and medical personnel work side by side in their efforts to help. While volunteering at the clinic, you may provide diagnosis and treatment for malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS, tropical illnesses, and malnutrition.

You do not need a medical background to help out: there are plenty of needs with which you can assist.

We do more than offer medical services! Besides treating patients at the clinic, we set aside plenty of time to get to know our gracious hosts, visit local sights, shop, and learn more about the rich culture. Highlights include a safari, hippo watching on Lake Victoria and sampling a variety of authentic Kenyan cuisine.

If you are planning to travel with us, you will need to prepare yourself with some basic steps, which are outlined in our Travel Handbook.

We gladly welcome travelers of all skills, ages, and abilities! Although this is a 'medical mission trip', you do not need to be a medical professional to volunteer with BKM!

Directors of nursing, medical, therapeutic, mental health, pharmaceutical, dental, optometry, emergency personnel, and other professional programs are welcome to contact us about how we might help your students learn more about their chosen profession through our organization!

Sponsor A Child

Your sponsorship will support the health care and education of a specific child from the village of Wangaya. Your tax-deductible gift doesn't need to be a great cost, but it will provide invaluable opportunity to a child in need. Read about the impact that Bonyo's Kenya Mission has had on one young Kenyan woman.

The Challenge:

Wan'gaya is a rural village in western Kenya. The village children see hardships that can either be avoided or eased with minimal involvement from us. They often lack the basic necessities we take for granted: school supplies, books, uniforms and minimal tuition costs.

The Solution: You

When you sponsor a child, you are sponsoring a specific child. You will receive updates as to their health and well-being and witness the impact your assistance has had.

Your annual tax-deductible contribution of just $400 provides:

  • Medical care
  • School supplies & books
  • School uniforms
  • Educational opportunities
  • Important life-skills training
  • And contributes to the betterment of the other unsponsored children through donations made to the school as a whole.
