Bonyo's Kenya Mission
Changing the world one life at a time
The Mama Pilista Bonyo Memorial Health Centre, accredited by the Kenyan government as a Social Health Authority (SHA) clinic, is located in the village of Wan'gaya, Kenya. The health centre provides sustainable, cooperative health care to the thousands of residents of the village and its surrounding communities. Bonyo's Kenya Mission achieves its goals daily by staffing the clinic with year-round medical personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are grateful to our deeply dedicated clinic team for providing sustainable general and preventative medical care.
The clinic has successful and significant impact on people's lives by providing these many following services:

-
We provide both outpatient and inpatient care.
-
We provide over 120 families with their own Universal Health Coverage access.
-
We are an officially registered HIV/TB treatment centre that is significantly reducing the damage done by HIV/ AIDS and tuberculosis through its work in diagnostics, education, treatment, support, and prevention.
-
Our partnerships with NGOs such as FACES (Family AIDS Care and Education Services) and the Kenyan Ministry of Health (and many others) allow us to provide mother-child Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), and Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission of HIV (PMTCT) programs. The PNC program includes nutritional support, child monitoring from birth to 5 years, and ensures children receive the necessary immunizations. We currently have over 200 HIV patients enrolled in the HIV/TB program, which provides them with necessary antiretroviral (ARV) treatments, ensures they take their treatments properly, and offers ongoing supportive counseling.
-
We offer diagnosis and treatment of malaria, which continues to be a leading killer in Kenya, especially of children under age 5 and pregnant mothers. While the Kenyan Ministry of Health provides some medication, it is never enough to keep up with the demand. The generosity of our donors helps us keep the necessary, often lifesaving, medications in stock.
-
Through early treatment and education, we have contributed significantly to the drop in death rates from pneumonia, diarrheal illnesses, and other curable diseases.
-
The clinic's laboratory and pharmacy have greatly improved our basic wound care, helping to significantly reduce infection rates.

-
We provide OB/GYN care, including cervical cancer screening, pregnancy testing, contraception, and maternity care.
-
Our eye clinic is able to accurately test and provide glasses and sunglasses to hundreds of patients. We have partnered with the Lions Club International (Kisumu, Kenya & Uniontown, Ohio specifically) to provide our patients with much needed cataract surgery and eye care.
-
We are currently developing a dental care program. We have been giving bi-yearly fluoride treatments to children in the local schools along with dental hygiene education.
-
We are in the process of getting our radiology department up and running, pending approval from the radiation board.
-
In 2024, a CBC machine was acquired locally and is available to both our patients and those referred to our clinic. This full hemogram machine conducts a complete blood count (CBC), which is usually the first test requested by physicians to determine a patient's general health status.
Bonyo's Kenya Mission is very proud of the work we do, but there is so much more we want to get done.
